Last night, the La Porte High School Water Polo team commenced their 2025 season with a victory over Caesar E. Chavez High School Lobos. The Bulldogs played the first game and secured a 16-4 win. Junior
Jake Gazaw opened the scoring with the first two goals of the season, assisted by Sophomore
Lucas Prigmore. Lucas also connected with Junior
Jaime Reyes for another goal. Subsequently, Lucas assisted Sophomore
Douglas Robb, who scored his first goal of the year, increasing the lead to 4-0 with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter. Chavez High School reduced the deficit to 4-2 by the end of the quarter. Junior goalkeeper
Cole Bailey contributed with two saves during this period. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs elevated their defense and offense, outscoring the Lobos with goals from
Cole Bailey and
Lucas Prigmore.
Jake Gazaw and
Jaime Reyes had two goals each, resulting in a halftime score of 10-2.
Douglas Robb recorded two saves in this period. During the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored two additional goals from
Lucas Prigmore assisted by
Jaime Reyes, and
Jake Gazaw also assisted by
Jaime Reyes, bringing the score to 12-4 at the end of the quarter.
Douglas Robb made three more saves. In the final quarter, the Bulldogs added four more goals to secure the season's first win.
Douglas Robb scored his second goal of the game from the assist by
Jake Gazaw. Douglas and Jake teamed up again but this time Doug got the assist from the goal of
Jake Gazaw.
Jake Gazaw then added his seventh goal, assisted by
Jaime Reyes. Finally,
Lucas Prigmore scored his third goal from a steal from
Douglas Robb. The game concluded with a final score of La Porte High School 16, Chavez 4.
