The La Porte High School Boys and Girls Water Polo teams are headed to the UIL State Playoffs after completing challenging regular seasons marked by several record-breaking performances. The LPHS Boys finished 9-17 overall and 4-2 in district play and will face Clear Springs in the first round of the playoffs. Senior Jake Gazaw set program records for goals in a single game, season, and career. Junior goalkeeper Douglas Robb set program records for saves in a single game and season and has recorded more than 500 career saves. Seniors Jaime Reyes and Ean Lopez are also battling for the single-season steals record, which will be decided during the postseason.

The LPHS Girls finished 17-10 overall and 4-2 in district play, winning nine of their final 10 games heading into their first-round matchup with Clear Springs. Junior goalkeeper Kimberly Manzo set program records for saves in a game, season, and career, while junior Natalie Chavez established season and career records in goals, assists, and steals.

Both teams faced a significantly tougher schedule this season, but that competition helped prepare the Bulldogs for district and playoffs. Despite the challenges, both programs improved in district competition and earned another opportunity to compete in the UIL postseason.
