Stong 4th Quarter, but still not enough

La Porte Bulldogs traveled fiercely to North Shore High School, determined to claim second place in the District 10 standings. Their streak of heartbreak, failing to beat North Shore since the first district game of 2023, had stretched into four painful losses, fueling their resolve to break through this time.

The game began with North Shore igniting an unstoppable momentum, finishing the first quarter on a 4-0 run. Goalkeeper Douglas Robb fought and making 5 saves to keep the score from widening. As the second quarter unfolded, North Shore pressed hard, adding three more goals and extending their lead to 7-0. But amid the mounting struggle, Junior Jake Gazaw unleashed a burst of hope, Lucas Prigmore stole the ball and setting up for an assist to Jake Gazaw to finally put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard. Entering halftime, North Shore still dominated at 7-1, yet the Bulldogs' spirit was just beginning to ignite. Douglas Robb continued to stand tall, adding two more saves. This gives him 7 for the game. The third quarter saw La Porte finally find their rhythm, with Gazaw scoring two more goals, thanks to Prigmore's clever assists. Lucas showcased his relentless hustle with another steal, inspiring his teammates. Junior Ean Lopez's fierce defense shattered previous records with two steals in this quarter alone, embodying the heart and tenacity of the Bulldogs. In this pivotal period, La Porte's defense held strong, shutting out North Shore entirely and cutting the lead to 7-3. The final quarter was nothing short of a heart-pounding battle. North Shore scored four times, but La Porte erupted with unstoppable energy, scoring seven devastating goals. Ean Lopez contributed with a crucial goal and a steal, earning his third of the game. Prigmore and Gazaw each drilled in three impressive goals, fueling the Bulldogs' fierce comeback. Jacob Smith jumped into the fray with a clever steal that set up one of the incredible seven La Porte goals. Douglas Robb saved the day once more, adding three more saves to reach 12 for the game, marking his third straight game with 12 or more saves, a testament to his unwavering determination. All of that still was not enough to over take North Shore. Final score Mustangs 11, Bulldogs 10.
