For the first time in 2 year La Porte Aquatics participated in the annual Turkey Bowl in Texas City. This is the 32^nd year this event took place and saw 20 area high schools. LPHS usually has a strong showing, finishing in the top 5 for both Girls and Boys since 2018. The only year this event did not take place due to maintenance work on the pool was 2023.
 
The swim meet started off with the 200 yard Medley Relay and this girls came in 8^th place and the Boys came in 9^th. The 200 yard Freestyle event saw Juniors Isabella Huerta and Claire Underwood, and Freshman Mika Morales. Claire swam hard and took 2 more seconds off her time down to 3:00.31 for 8 lengths of the pool. In the Boys 200 yard Freestyle, Sophomores Jake Gazaw and Ean Lopez both saw improvements. Ean swam his race almost 10 seconds faster bringing his time to a 2:44.95.
In the 50 yard Freestyle event, there were four girls and boys. In the girl's event, Freshman Natalie Chavez, Seniors Kayla Juarez and Gabriella Kirk, and Sophomore Adilyn Smith. Kayla and Gabriella both improved their time, but Kayla took more than two seconds off her time to set a new personal best at 34.18. On the boys side of the 50 yard Freestyle, Freshmans Lucas Prigmore, Cole Bailey, and Sophomore Jaime Reyes all came really close to drop time, but it was Freshman Jacob Smith who improved his personal record by half a second to 37.60.
The Girl's 200 yard Freestyle Relay had two relays. They came in help 8^th and 10^th. In the Boy's 200 Freestyle Relay also had two relays and they finished in 5^th and 11^th places. Senior Coby Chauvette and Sophomore Jaime Reyes swam in the 100 yard Breaststroke and both dropped time in this event. Jaime dropped the most time with 10.46 seconds to bring his time to a personal record of 1:35.83. Jaime finished 12^th while Coby took the higher place value at 5^th. During the last event of the 2024 Turkey Bowl Girl's and Boy's 400 yard Freestyle event had one relay each. Girls finished in 8^th place while the Boys finished 2^nd.
