LPHS Swim Team competed in the 2025 RegionV-5A Swimming Championships at the Don Cook Natatorium in Sugar Land, Texas. La Porte had one individual swimmer and all 6 relays have qualified for this event.

Prelims
In the Medley Relay, the Girls were first to swim and were seeded 14
th. Their relay is now in 11
th place and qualified for Finals. The Boys Medley Relay were seeded 18
th and finished the race in 15
th to qualify for Finials. The next race was the 500 yard Freestyle and Sophomore
Jake Gazaw did not disappoint. He was seeded 15
th with a time of 6:17.68. Jake was able to get his time down to a 6:06.99 and was good enough for finals and was seeded 12
th. The next two relay events went really well for the Bulldogs. The Girls 200 yard Freestyle Relay was seeded 14
th with a time of 2:20.89. The Girls relay went about 6 seconds faster for a time of 2:14.81 and qualified for Finals with a 14
th place finish. In the Boys 200 yard Freestyle Relay, they were seeded 15
th with a time of 1:59.11. They were able to swim faster with a time of 1:54.42 and also qualified for Finals. In the last two races of the Prelims, the Girls 400 yard Freestyle Relay was seeded 12
th and was able to swim better and finished in the 11
th position and the Boy 400 yard Freestyle relay was seeded 11
th and came in 11
th. Both relays also qualified for finals.

Finals
On Saturday the La Porte Bulldogs came in and was ready to swim. With Junior

Adilyn Smith doing Breaststroke, Freshman
Natalie Chavez doing Butterfly, and Senior
Kayla Juarez doing Freestyle started the swim meet in the 200 yard Medley Relay with a strong showing and moved up in the standing to finish the year off with a Top 10 finish. The Boys 200 yard Medley Relay had Senior

Jaime Reyes with Breaststroke, Sophomore

Cole Bailey with Freestyle was caught with an early takeoff and was disqualified. Sophomore
Jake Gazaw came into the race in the 12
th seed. He continued to improve his time and recorded another personal record of 6:04.41 and finished his year in the 13
th position. In the next set of relays, the Girls 200 yard Freestyle Relay had
Adilyn Smith,
Kayla Juarez,
Isabella Huerta, and
Natalie Chavez. They swam faster and moved up in the rankings to 13
th. The Boys relay saw Freshman

Jaime Reyes, Freshman
Lucas Prigmore, and
Jackson Thralls swim into the 14
th position to finish the year. The last event of the swim meet was the 400 yard Freestyle Relay and the Girls with Junior

Isabella Huerta finished the year with an 11
th place finish. The Boys had
Lucas Prigmore,
Cole Bailey,
Jake Gazaw and
Jackson Thralls to close out the year with a Top 10 finish in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay. Both the Girls and Boys finished 15
th in the region out of 23 teams.

La Porte High School Swim Team looks forward to some rest time and start looking into the future by work on drill and do dry-land workouts at Sylvan Beach. We will also have the announcement of the Team Awards soon.
